Not a bad turnout for the first Tuesday night barrel race after the clocks changed. Eleven paddlers took part on a cool but pleasant evening and set their initial times for racing from the clubhouse round the last mooring buoy above the weir (the 'barrel') and back. Now they all have their own personal target to beat in subsequent races - one every fortnight.

Unfortunately only one junior paddled but well done to David Hatton. How about getting some of your friends out next time?

Ian Tordoff was fastest on the night in 11mins 54secs with the rest of the racers spread out fairly evenly. Since the slowest paddler was set off first this resulted in some very close finishes and a hectic few minutes for the timer.

Next week it is the first of the 2011 time trials, different length of course for different standards of paddler, including portages for the more experienced. Come and try it - the more the merrier.

Barrel results below and also on the notice board.
