Hi Paddlers,
Hare 'n Hounds Race 7
A very big Thank-you to all who raced on
Thursday night we had a total of 22
paddlers!
The conditions were good, very little wind a
bit cloudy and cool, but once the race got
underway everyone soon warmed up, and I even
heard comments that athletes were racing ..
'out of there skins' ... 'and world
championship race pace' ... very impressive
for a club session on the River Dee .... so
it must be doing us good!
We had problems recording the finish times,
but at least we got the order every one
arrived over the T.T.1 course, so everyone
got the correct points. I did get the times
of the paddlers that did T.T.2 (down to the
Barrel) but I want to apologise for not
having the other times, but let me assure
you they were the fastest yet!
Young Jake paddled very well to win the
Handicap, Jean and Adele, and Roger hanging
on close behind, followed by Melvin, Colin
and Ian all together, leaving a huge wash
behind (great shame nobody could sit it!)
You couldn't split Ray and young David,
closely followed by Parky, Graham J. and
John then just behind Marg and Graham ....
the handicap worked well and it was very
close once again.
The longer Race was even closer with just
seconds between, Ian, Melvin, Jean and
Adele, very closely followed by Colin then
Roger! It felt very fast ... and it was good
to have the Div 3 paddlers joining in ... I
think by the time we'd finished our heart
rates were way up in the red line zone!
After all this excitement Roger is still in
the lead, but is the only paddler to do 6
races so far ... so it could all change in
the next couple of races ... as points can
only be counted from 6 races ... so
get check the dates for the next races.
Thanks to Carol who organised the Junior
Race, it was great to see 8 juniors out, all
working hard and producing good times, well
done to Philip who just beat Rona and Maggie
(K2) by 1 second!
(Results all attached)
The standard of paddling has improved and
its very noticeable how our members, who
have been doing the Tuesdays, Thursdays and
the Hare 'n Hound Races have got stronger
and faster ...... lets hope we can impress
at the Haslers and the Nationals too!
