Hi Paddlers,

The great weather conditions has fetched a few more paddlers out for the weekly club sessions, lots of good times at the Tuesday Time trials and Barrel Runs, plus some good quality Thursday night training sessions ... its looking like Chester's Canoe Club will have some good results this season!

The Wild Water Boys were out at the Tryweryn over Easter with some good results.

Melvin 1st Open event 19.24.

Colin Cartwright 1st C1 21.28

Matty and Simon 2nd C2 21.34

Bob Scholey 6th (2nd Vet) Div B 24.33

Some of them were looking for GB selection so hopefully fingers crossed.

The Cheshire Ring Team is coming together, Jean and Adele will be doing a solo K2 Run, whilst Bob Scholey and Carol Hatton are working out a 10 paddler relay team, so hopefully we will have 2 strong teams to put Chester Canoe Club on the Cheshire Ring map on 26th June. Juniors we need your support and commitment to the Cheshire Ring Training if were going to give Macclesfield and Trentham a run for there money ... so try hard to get to the Tuesday and Thursday sessions young David Hatton needs the company!

Time Trial Report 19th April (results attached)

A good turn out and mud larking characterised last Tuesday's Time Trial. Former club member Mark Williams and his son Owen made a guest appearance paddling K2 and help boost the numbers taking part to sixteen.

In the L2 and S2 categories (Div 4 to 6) paddlers portaged for the first time this year and how surprised they were! Spring tides over the last few days had left a thick layer of silt on top of the normally sandy beaches at both of the get outs and one get in. But was it one inch deep or six inches? Only one way to find out - put your foot in it and sink to the bottom - lovely. There was a certain amount of slithering and sliding but all survived without serious mishap even if they did finish the race somewhat daubed and splattered.

In the overall standings after two races it is all very much 'even Stephens' in all categories with no clear cut leaders. All to play for then so why not come and play?

Barrel Race Report 28th April (results attached)

It was good to see three new faces at last Tuesday's Barrel race. Jean Ashley put in a strong first performance to win the ladies and record the second fastest time of the night. New boy Alistair ? had a creditable time considering he is still getting used to his boat while David Hatton must again have felt very lonely in the Juniors.

Roger Williams had the fastest time of the night and still leads the overall rankings.

Results here.

Hare 'n Hounds Race 6

The next race is on Sunday 15th May, halfway through the series, with Roger Williams overall leader but with 6 races to count its still wide open for the Divisional prizes, so hope to see you on 15th May 10.00 for a 10.30 paddle up. The June July and August Races will be held on Thursday nights due to busy race schedules at weekends.

If you've got any races lined up, marathon, slalom, whitewater, results, canoe tips or stories, you want to share with the club, I'd  love to hear from you so I can publish them in our Monthly Canoe Email News.
